Dubai, in short

Yes. OlDevs works with businesses across Dubai and the wider Dubai Emirate, remotely from our Vancouver studio on Pacific time, with travel to the UAE when a stage of the work calls for it.Dubai runs 12 hours ahead of Vancouver, so calls sit either in your evening and our early morning or in your morning and our evening, and the hours in between are used for written handovers. The work covers web app development, Android and iOS apps, web development, full-stack engineering, AI development and performance marketing.

04Privacy law
The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), with free zones such as DIFC and ADGM running their own data protection regimes
05Accessibility
No single federal web-accessibility statute; government digital services follow national accessibility policy and WCAG 2.2 AA is the working standard
06Languages
Arabic and English (bilingual work is standard)

Built for Dubai Emirate

What Dubai projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

Personal data under UAE rules

Dubai companies work under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, and free zones such as DIFC and ADGM run their own data protection regimes. We map what each form, event and log actually collects so your advisers can review a clear picture rather than guess.

02

Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA

There is no single federal web-accessibility statute, but government digital services follow national accessibility policy and WCAG 2.2 AA is the working standard. We build to that level by default: keyboard paths, colour contrast, focus states and tested screen reader labels.

WCAG 2.2 AA · Keyboard access

03

Arabic and English side by side

Bilingual work is standard in Dubai, so we treat Arabic and English as equal from the first wireframe. That means right to left layouts, mirrored icons and navigation, numerals set the way your readers expect, and a content model that keeps both languages in step.

Arabic · RTL layout · Bilingual

04

Hosting and data residency

Major cloud providers operate regions inside the UAE, so customer records can sit close to home while build and preview environments stay wherever your team prefers. We set the region before the first line of production code and document where each store lives.

Sectors

Who we work with in Dubai.

Trade and logistics

Freight, customs and warehousing operators need portals that show shipment status without a phone call. We build tracking interfaces, partner logins and integrations with the systems that already hold your movement data.

Tourism and hospitality

Hotels, tour operators and attractions live or die on the booking flow. We rebuild those journeys in Arabic and English, tune the mobile experience, and run paid search, paid social and analytics against real bookings.

Real estate and construction

Developers and brokerages need listings, floor plan viewers and enquiry routing that hold up under campaign traffic. We connect the front end to your CRM so a lead reaches an agent while it is still warm.

Financial services in DIFC

Firms licensed in DIFC answer to the free zone's own data protection regime and to review cycles that can run for months. We plan releases around those approvals and write specifications your risk and compliance readers can follow without a translator.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Dubai.

  1. Discover

A short series of video calls in your working hours to agree scope, users, languages and success measures, followed by a written brief you can circulate to stakeholders in Dubai.

  2. Design

Wireframes then full screens in Arabic and English, reviewed in a shared file you can comment on overnight. Nothing moves to build until the flows are signed off in writing.

  3. Build

Two week cycles with a working demo every week on a private link, so you can try the real thing on your own device before our next call rather than reading a status report.

  4. Launch

We rehearse the release on a staging environment, agree a cutover time that suits Gulf Standard Time, and stay on call through your first business day after go live.

  5. Grow

After launch we watch analytics, run performance marketing where it earns its place, and plan the next round of work from what real Dubai users actually do.

FAQ

Dubai — questions we hear first.

No. The studio is in Vancouver, British Columbia, and there is no OlDevs office or staff in Dubai. Clients here are served remotely with video calls scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, and we travel to the UAE when a workshop, a launch or an on-site review genuinely calls for it.

We treat the overlap as a fixed appointment rather than a hope. Calls land in your evening and our early morning, or in your morning and our evening, decisions are written down the same day, and the rest of our working day is spent building against those decisions so there is fresh progress waiting when you start.

Major cloud providers run regions inside the UAE, so production data can stay in country while lower environments sit elsewhere if that is simpler. We agree the region during discovery, record where every store and backup lives, and leave that documentation with you.

Yes. Bilingual work is standard here, so we plan right to left layouts, mirrored navigation and Arabic typography from the design stage instead of retrofitting a translation later. Your team supplies or approves the Arabic copy and we build the content model that keeps both versions aligned.

WCAG 2.2 AA. There is no single federal web-accessibility statute in the UAE, but government digital services follow national accessibility policy and AA is the working standard, so we make it the default rather than an upgrade. We do not give legal advice on your obligations.

You do. Clients own all code, designs, accounts and intellectual property, and we hand over repositories, cloud accounts and analytics properties in your own name. If you later move the work to an in-house team in Dubai, nothing is locked to us. Request a quote to see scope and timing.
