Photography & Content Capture, in short

OlDevs runs photography and content capture for organisations that need a steady supply of images, not a single shoot. The studio covers product, lifestyle, location, team and facility photography, e-commerce catalogue work, and bulk capture days that fill a content calendar for months. Shot lists are built backwards from where each image will actually be used, so a frame exists for the product page, the ad placement, the email header and the social crop. Retouching, colour and cropping follow written standards, files are named to a convention, and everything is delivered into a searchable library the client owns. Work is delivered remotely from Vancouver for corporations, associations, government bodies, franchises and entrepreneurs across Canada and the United States.

Process

How a capture day runs

  1. Usage audit

We list every place an image will appear: product pages, ads, email, social, print, signage and decks. That list, not a mood board, becomes the shot list.

  2. Shot list & call sheet

Each frame is specified with subject, orientation, crop and destination, then scheduled into a call sheet covering locations, permits, talent, props and the order we shoot in.

  3. Shoot

We shoot tethered where it helps, review frames against the list on the day, and confirm coverage before the set comes down so nothing needs a return visit.

  4. Select & retouch

You choose from a proofing gallery, we retouch the selects to the agreed standard, then produce every crop and format the usage audit called for.

  5. Deliver & hand over

Files land in your library named, tagged and sized, with RAW originals, licences, release forms and the standards document, so the next shoot matches this one.

How we work

How we photograph for real use

01

Start from the placement, not the camera

Every shot exists because something needs it: a square grid tile, a wide hero with copy space, a print spread. Frames nobody has a use for only clutter the library.

02

Shoot wide, crop later

We frame with the tightest and widest crops both in mind, so one capture serves a square feed post, a vertical story and a banner without reshooting.

03

Write the standards down

Lighting, background, colour, skin tone, shadow and crop rules live in a short document you keep, so any photographer can match the look in two years.

04

Capture in bulk, publish over time

A single well-planned day yields months of posts. Batching set-ups, wardrobe and props is the practical way to keep an always-on calendar fed without booking a shoot every month.

05

Name files so they can be found

Images are named by subject, variant, orientation and date, then tagged with keywords and alt text, so your team finds the right frame without asking us.

06

Keep multi-location work consistent

Franchise and multi-site programmes get one brief, one kit list and one retouching standard, so a photo from Halifax sits beside one from Kelowna without looking borrowed.

Who it's for

Photography for organisations that publish constantly.

Whether the audience is a customer, a member, a citizen or a recruit, the images have to hold up wherever they land.

Corporations

Brand-controlled libraries covering products, people, facilities and events across markets, versioned by region and language, with approvals and usage rights documented before anything reaches a channel.

Associations & government

Member, programme and public-information imagery that must be accessible, bilingual where required, respectful of consent, and safe to reuse in reports, tenders and campaigns for years.

Franchises & multi-location brands

One capture standard applied at every location, with a head-office library of approved images and a simple way for each franchisee to add local photos that still match.

E-commerce & entrepreneurs

Catalogue coverage that keeps product pages and shopping feeds complete as the range changes, plus lifestyle and content-day material that keeps ads and social running between launches.

FAQ

Photography & Content Capture: questions we hear first.

It depends on the set-ups, but a planned day usually produces a few hundred usable frames and a shortlist of edited selects agreed in advance. We fix the number of retouched images in the scope so the deliverable is clear, then deliver the rest as unretouched originals. Complex product or catalogue work moves slower per frame; lifestyle and social capture moves faster. The shot list decides the count, not the clock.

You do. Final images, RAW originals, working files, the retouching standards document and the naming convention are delivered to storage you control. Model and property releases are collected in your organisation's name, and any licensed elements such as props, wardrobe or stock are listed with their terms so nothing expires without warning. We keep a copy only for the length of the engagement, and we do not resell your images or use them for another client without written permission.

Against the placements it was shot for. Before the shoot we agree what the images have to do: fill every product page and shopping feed field, carry an agreed share of the social calendar, replace stock on key landing pages. After delivery we check coverage against that list, then read the channel metrics the images touch, such as product-page conversion rate, ad hook rate and click-through, and email engagement. Where volume allows, new images run against the old ones as a test rather than replacing them on taste.

Yes. We work remotely from Vancouver and travel across Canada and the United States, and for large networks we run a repeatable kit list, lighting diagram and shot list so every location is shot the same way. Where a local crew makes more sense, we brief and supervise them against the same standard and handle retouching centrally, which is what keeps a multi-site library looking like one brand rather than a set of unrelated shoots.

A list of where the images will be used, the products, people or sites to be covered, brand guidelines and any existing library, plus one named approver who can sign off the shot list. For product work we need the physical samples and their variants. For people and locations we need access, scheduling and anyone who has to be on site. If a location needs a permit or a landlord's consent, tell us early; that is the usual cause of a delayed shoot day.

A proofing gallery goes up within two business days of a capture day so you can start selecting immediately. Retouched selects usually follow within five to ten business days, depending on the count and how much compositing or clipping the catalogue work needs. Urgent frames can be pulled forward and delivered the same week. Every delivery includes the web, print and social crops agreed in the shot list, so nothing has to be resized later by someone else.

It depends on the number of shoot days, travel, the size of the retouching list, whether talent, styling or location permits are involved, and how many crops each image needs. For that reason we scope every engagement individually rather than publishing a rate card. Send a short description of what needs photographing, where it will be used and any deadline, and we will reply within one business day with a recommended scope and a quote.
