Crew on call
OlDevs produces commercials end to end for organisations that have to run them.Broadcast and online spots, from brief and script through casting, location scouting, crew and kit, direction on the shoot day, edit, colour, sound and delivery. Production is briefed from the media plan and the campaign data behind it rather than a mood board, so the durations, placements and message are settled before a camera is booked. Every spot is delivered in the cuts, aspect ratios and durations the plan calls for, with broadcast specifications, captions and a clearance file included. The studio works for corporations, associations, government bodies, franchises and entrepreneurs across Canada and the United States, remotely from Vancouver, and the client owns the raw footage and the project files.

Process
Brief & data
We read the media plan, the account data and the research you already have, then agree the single message the spot has to carry and how it will be judged.
Script & board
Scripts, storyboards and a shot list go to you for approval, with talent, location and music options attached, before any booking is confirmed.
Pre-production
Casting, scouting, permits, insurance, crew and kit are locked and issued as a call sheet. You see the schedule, the crew list and the contingency plan in writing.
Shoot
We direct on set, review takes against the board as we go, and back up every card to two drives before anyone leaves the location.
Post & delivery
You review cuts in a shared workspace with timecoded comments. Approved masters, cutdowns, captions and clearance records ship to your storage, along with the raw footage.
How we work
Where the spot will run sets the rest: the durations bought, the aspect ratios, whether it plays with the sound off, and the clearance each placement requires.
We agree the measure before anything is booked, whether that is completion rate by cut, cost per result, recall in a survey you commission, or calls and forms in analytics.
The shot list covers vertical and square framing, alternate end cards, and coverage for shorter durations, so one shoot day feeds television, online video, social and in-store screens.
Talent usage, location releases, music licences and stock terms are documented with term, territory and media, then diarised against the flight dates so renewals are raised before a licence ends.
Closed captions, subtitles, readable type sizes, and described video where a broadcaster requires it. Web deliverables meet the WCAG 2.2 AA standard of the pages they sit on.
Camera originals, project files, fonts, graphics, audio stems and the clearance file go to your storage at the end of the job, so another studio could pick it up tomorrow.
Who it's for
Whether the spot runs in a national break, a pre-roll slot or a franchisee's local feed, it has to hold up under real use.
National advertisers running one spot through brand, legal and several regions at once, who need every regional and bilingual version cut from the same shoot and cleared on the same paperwork.
Public-information and recruitment spots that have to clear procurement, run captioned and in both languages, and stand up when someone asks who appeared in them and on what terms.
One national shoot that yields a locked master plus local end cards, so each franchisee can add its own address, hours and offer without booking a second production.
One tightly planned shoot day that produces a hero spot and a set of cutdowns, so a small team can keep versioning new messages for months without booking another crew.

FAQ
Plan on six to ten weeks for a standard spot: a week or two for script and boards, two to three weeks of pre-production for casting, locations and permits, one or two shoot days, and two to three weeks of post. Approvals drive the schedule more than production does, so we agree named approvers and turnaround times at kickoff. Rush schedules are possible when the shoot is simple and the approval path is short.
You do. The finished masters, every cutdown, the camera originals, the edit project files, graphics, audio stems and fonts are delivered to your own storage at the end of the job. Talent releases, location permits, music licences and stock terms are handed over in one clearance file listing term, territory and media for each. Our access to your accounts and drives is removed the day an engagement ends, and nothing we shoot for you is reused for another client.
By the measure we agree before the shoot. For direct-response spots that is cost per result, view-through and completion rate by cut, with calls and forms attributed in analytics. For brand campaigns it is reach, frequency and recall from a survey you commission, read alongside branded search volume and direct traffic. Every delivered file is named for its version, duration and placement, so reporting rolls up by cut and the next edit is briefed from evidence.
Every element carries a licence with a term, a territory and named media, and we buy the one that matches the media plan rather than the narrowest one that clears the shoot. Music comes from a production library, an original score written for the spot, or a commercial track where the rights holder allows it. Talent are engaged on a release or union agreement covering the same term and media. All of it is logged with expiry dates, so you know when to renew or pull a spot.
Yes, to the specifications the broadcaster or platform publishes. Masters are produced to the station's technical specification, including loudness, safe areas, slates and timecode, and delivered through the distribution route it uses. The same edit is versioned for online video, OTT, social and in-store screens in the durations and aspect ratios the plan calls for, with captions burned in where sound-off viewing is likely. We check every file against the receiving specification before handover, not after a rejection.
We need the media plan or a description of where the spot will run, your brand guidelines, access to campaign data or reports, the offer and its legal wording, and one named approver who can turn scripts and cuts around in two business days. On the shoot day you are welcome on set or on a live video link. We work to a call sheet you have seen, review takes against the board as we go, and back up every card to two drives before the crew wraps.
It depends on the scope: shoot days, crew size, cast and their usage terms, locations and permits, whether music is licensed or composed, and how many versions and languages the plan needs. Because those vary widely, we scope and quote each production individually rather than publishing a rate card. Send the media plan or a short description of where the spot will run, and we will reply within one business day with a recommended approach and a written quote.
