Video Production, in short

OlDevs is a Vancouver technology and marketing studio that produces video for organisations in Canada and the United States. We plan, shoot and finish brand films, product films, explainers, testimonial and case-study pieces, event coverage and recruitment video. One shoot is structured to yield a library of cuts: a long-form film, shorter edits for the website and paid channels, vertical versions for social, and silent-first cuts that read without sound. Every deliverable is captioned, colour-graded and sound-mixed, and can be versioned in English and French. You receive the finished files, the project files and the raw footage, and you own all of it. Work is quote-based and scoped before a camera is switched on.

What we produce

Six kinds of video, planned and finished by the same team. Most engagements combine two or three of them into a single production day.

01

Brand and company films

The film that explains who you are and why the work matters. Interviews with real people, supporting footage of the actual work, a scripted narrative and a music and sound mix built for the piece.

Scripting · Interviews · B-roll · Narrative edit · Sound design · Colour

02

Product and explainer video

Filmed explainers that show a product or service actually working. Studio or location capture, screen recording where the product is software, and on-screen labels naming the parts, steps and outcomes as they appear.

Product capture · Screen record · On-screen labels · Voiceover · Versioning

03

Testimonial and case-study video

Customer and member interviews shot multi-camera so the edit can cut cleanly. We prepare questions with you, run the interview, and clear usage in writing before anything is published.

Multi-camera · Question design · Release forms · Pull-quotes · Short cuts

04

Event and conference video

Coverage of conferences, AGMs, openings and award nights. Same-week highlight cuts, full session recordings where you need the archive, and speaker clips sized for each channel.

Multi-camera · Session capture · Highlight reel · Speaker clips · Live audio

05

Recruitment and internal video

Films for hiring pages, onboarding and internal communication. Team interviews, workplace footage and a tone that matches how your organisation actually speaks to its people.

Team interviews · Workplace footage · Onboarding · Internal comms · Captions

06

Post-production and versioning

Edit, colour grade, sound mix, graphics, subtitles and delivery. One master becomes horizontal, square and vertical cuts at the lengths each channel wants, in English and French.

Edit · Colour · Sound mix · Subtitles · EN/FR · Multi-aspect delivery

Process

How a production runs

  1. Scope and script

We agree the purpose, the audience, the message and the exact list of cuts you will receive. Scripts, question sets and shot lists are written and approved before booking.

  2. Pre-production

Locations scouted, permissions and release forms arranged, interview subjects briefed, schedule built around your operating hours. Kit and crew sized to the shoot.

  3. Production

Studio or location shooting with multi-camera interviews, controlled lighting and recorded audio on separate channels. Framing protects the vertical crops planned earlier.

  4. Post-production

Assembly, edit, colour grade, sound mix and graphics. You review rough cuts weekly and give consolidated notes within an agreed number of revision rounds.

  5. Delivery and versioning

Final masters plus every channel size and language version, subtitle files, project files and raw footage. We help load them to your site, channels and ad accounts.

How we work

How we work

01

One shoot, a library of cuts

We plan framing and shot lists so vertical, square and horizontal versions all come from the same capture. You get a film, short cuts and social clips, not one asset.

02

Captions on everything

Every deliverable ships with burned-in and separate subtitle files, written and checked by a person. Cuts are built on the assumption that the sound is off, so the message reads without it.

03

Bilingual EN/FR versions

French handled as subtitles, voiceover or a full second edit, decided during planning because it changes what we capture on the day.

04

Weekly demos, no reveal

You see rough cuts as they develop and give notes while the edit is still easy to change. Nothing is saved up for a single presentation at the end of the schedule.

05

Accessible by default

Captions, transcripts, sensible contrast on titles and no flashing sequences. Players on your site are built to WCAG 2.2 AA with keyboard controls that work.

06

You keep everything

Masters, channel versions, subtitle files, edit and colour project files, and the raw footage. Licences bought in your name where the supplier permits.

Who it's for

Who this is for

We work remotely from Vancouver with organisations across Canada and the United States. Most video engagements start with one of these situations.

Corporations and enterprises

Teams that need a brand film, product video and a steady supply of channel cuts, produced to a schedule that survives legal review and internal sign-off.

Associations and member organisations

Groups documenting conferences and AGMs, filming member testimonials, and explaining what membership actually provides. Bilingual delivery and captioned archives where members and boards expect both official languages.

Government and public bodies

Public information video with accessibility built in: captions, transcripts and accessible players to WCAG 2.2 AA, plus French versions and clear ownership of every file.

Franchises and multi-location brands

One production that yields a versioned library for every location, so local teams post on-brand material instead of filming their own and diverging from the standard.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

You do. On delivery you receive the graded masters, every channel version, the subtitle files, the project files from the edit and colour suites, and the full set of raw camera and audio files. Music and stock licences are bought in your organisation's name where the supplier allows it, and we hand you the licence documents. Nothing is held back, and nothing depends on staying a client to keep using it.

We agree the measure before the shoot and write it into the scope. For a product or explainer film it is usually completion rate and the conversion rate of the page it sits on, compared against that page before the film was added. For recruitment it is applications started. For an event film it is watch-through and registrations for the next one. The figures come from your own analytics, not a dashboard we control.

Because the planning, the crew day and the time of the people on camera are the parts you only want to spend once. Once an interview is captured and lit properly, producing a long-form film, a short cut, a set of vertical clips and a silent captioned version is post-production work on the same material. We plan the shot list and framing at the start so vertical crops are protected, rather than cropping a wide frame afterwards and losing the subject.

Less than most people expect. We send questions in advance, confirm locations and a running order, and keep each interview to a booked window so people return to work. Crew size is set by the shoot, not by habit. For location work we arrive early to light and test sound, and we work around operating hours in facilities that cannot stop for a camera.

Yes. French can be a subtitle track, a voiceover, or a full second edit with a French-speaking interview subject. We recommend the approach during planning, because it changes what we capture. Subtitles are written and checked by a person, not machine-generated and left. Both language versions are delivered in the same set of channel sizes.

Concrete deliverables named in the quote: the exact cuts, lengths, aspect ratios and languages you will receive. Weekly demos so you see cuts in progress rather than a single reveal at the end. A fixed number of revision rounds stated up front. Replies within one business day. If you stop working with us, you already hold the files and licences and can take the work to anyone.

Often, yes. Send us what exists and we will tell you honestly what is usable. Older footage frequently works as supporting shots even when it cannot carry a film on its own, and archive material can be re-graded to sit alongside new capture. Where the resolution, sound or framing will not hold up, we say so before an edit is built on it.
