Course and module structure
Curriculum builders that hold real structure: programs, courses, modules, lessons, prerequisites and release schedules. Version a course without breaking learners who are partway through, and retire old content cleanly.
Solutions · Learning Management Systems
Course structure, enrolment, progress, quizzes and certificates in one platform your learners can actually finish. We build for associations, regulators and training teams who need reporting that holds up.

A learning management system organises courses into modules, enrols learners, tracks their progress, scores assessments and issues certificates or continuing education credits.OlDevs, a full-stack technology studio in Vancouver, builds these platforms when off the shelf products cannot handle your accreditation rules, member data or reporting obligations. Typical work covers SCORM and video content, quiz and exam engines, credit ledgers, accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, and exports for regulators or funders. If a standard product already fits, we say so rather than build.
Key facts
How your program actually runs
Curriculum builders that hold real structure: programs, courses, modules, lessons, prerequisites and release schedules. Version a course without breaking learners who are partway through, and retire old content cleanly.
Curriculum · Prerequisites · Versioning
Self serve sign up, bulk import, employer seat purchases and chapter or branch hierarchies, with roles for learners, instructors, administrators and auditors. Access rules can follow membership status, renewal dates and licence class.
Enrolment · Roles · Seats
SCORM packages, xAPI statements where a course needs them, hosted video with resume points, documents and live session scheduling. Content plays on phones and tablets, with captions and transcripts treated as part of the build, not an afterthought.
SCORM · Video · Mobile
Question banks, randomised quizzes, timed exams, attempt limits, passing thresholds and manual marking for written work. A pass generates a dated certificate with a verifiable reference an employer or regulator can check independently.
Quizzes · Exams · Certificates
Credit ledgers for associations and regulated professions: credit categories, reporting cycles, carry forward, attestations and a correction history. Members see the balance they still need; staff see exactly how each credit was earned.
CE credits · Cycles · Attestation
Dashboards and scheduled exports for boards, regulators and funders, built to the fields they actually ask for. Every completion carries a timestamped record, so an evidence request years later does not become a manual search.

Process
Discovery and rules
We collect the real rules: who may enrol, what completion means, which credits apply, what a regulator or funder asks for and when. Ambiguity here is what sinks learning projects, so we settle it in writing first.
Structure and prototype
You get a clickable prototype of the learner path and the administrator screens. We test it with a few actual learners and administrators before writing production code.
Weekly builds
A working demo every week on a shared environment. You see enrolment, then content playback, then assessment, then reporting come alive in order, and you can change direction while it is still cheap.
Content migration and pilot
We import SCORM packages, video and documents, then run a pilot cohort end to end: enrol, complete, pass, certify, report. Problems surface with a small group instead of your whole membership.
Launch and support
Go live with staff training, documentation and a support arrangement that suits your renewal peaks. You hold every account, repository and credential from the first day.
How we work
Before any screens, we write down what counts as finished: minutes watched, a passing score, an attestation, a supervisor signature. Everything else in the platform follows from that one definition.
Courses change far more often than the shell around them. We keep structure, content and delivery apart so a curriculum update is an afternoon of editing rather than an engineering ticket.
Individual sign up, employer seat blocks, member and non member tiers and fixed cohort intakes all behave differently. We build the model you actually use instead of a generic checkout you have to work around.
Question banks, attempt limits and marking rules are set up so a disputed result can be reconstructed from the record, including who marked what, when, and against which version of the course.
WCAG 2.2 AA and bilingual English and French delivery are designed in from the first screen. Retrofitting either one after launch costs far more than building it as you go.
If a standard product covers your courses, credits and reporting, we will tell you and help you configure it properly. Custom work has to earn its place against what you could license tomorrow.
Who it's for
Onboarding, safety and compliance training across sites and shifts, with supervisor sign off, refresher scheduling and evidence ready for an internal or external audit.
Member education with continuing education credits, chapter structures, member versus non member access, and reporting formatted for the boards and regulators that ask for it.
Consistent training across franchisees and new locations: one curriculum, per location enrolment and completion reporting, and brand standards nobody has to chase by email.
Paid course businesses and cohort programs that need real enrolment, payments and certificates rather than a link to a video folder, built small enough to launch and learn from.

FAQ
Sometimes buying wins. If your courses are straightforward, your credit rules are simple and no existing member database has to stay in step, a licensed platform will get you running sooner. Building makes sense when accreditation rules, seat purchasing or custom reporting would have you fighting the product every year. We say which situation you are in before any build starts.
Yes. Most learning platforms we build sit beside something else: an association management system, a CRM, an HR system, a payment provider or a single sign on directory. We map the fields each side owns, decide which system wins on a conflict, and build the sync so member status, seats and completions stay aligned without staff rekeying data.
Yes. We model credit categories, reporting cycles, carry forward and the evidence each credit requires, then hold a ledger a member can file from and staff can audit. We build to the rules your college, association or regulator publishes, and any rule change is confirmed with your compliance lead before it ships. This page is not legal advice.
SCORM packages are well supported and usually import as they are, and xAPI is an option where a course or a reporting requirement calls for it. Video is hosted with resume points and captions. Where old content was authored for a platform being retired, we test a representative sample in the first week so surprises appear early rather than at launch.
Each pass produces a dated certificate carrying the course, the credits earned and a reference number. That reference resolves to a verification page an employer, regulator or funder can check without phoning your office. Records stay queryable after a learner leaves, which matters when evidence is requested years after the course was taken.
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA: keyboard operation, captions, readable contrast, proper heading structure and forms that announce their errors. Timed exams get particular attention, because time limits and focus traps are where learning platforms usually fail people. Bilingual English and French delivery is available, including course content and certificates.
Reporting is designed from the output backwards. We start with the report a regulator, board or funder actually wants, confirm the fields and the cadence with the person who files it, then make sure the platform captures what those fields need at the moment a learner does the work. Scheduled exports and a downloadable audit trail come standard.
