Process

From brief to launch

  1. Discover

We map goals, audiences, content, and technical constraints, then agree the scope and timeline in writing.

  2. Design

Wireframes first, then high-fidelity pages in your brand, reviewed with your team at each stage.

  3. Build

Front-end, CMS, and integrations are developed in short sprints on a staging site you can open at any time.

  4. Test

Performance, accessibility, browser, and content checks, plus a full review of every form and tracking event.

  5. Launch

DNS, redirects, and monitoring go live on a planned date, and we stay on for the first month of tuning.

How we work

How we build

01

Design from the content out

We write and structure the messaging before designing pages, so layouts serve what you need to say rather than the other way round.

02

Set a performance budget

Each page gets a byte and timing budget at the start, and the build fails if it goes over.

03

Test accessibility early

Keyboard navigation, contrast, and screen-reader checks run on every pull request, not in a final audit.

04

Keep the CMS simple

Editors get the fields and blocks they need and nothing they do not, so publishing stays quick and pages stay on-brand.

05

Measure what matters

Analytics, consent, and conversion events are wired before launch so the first week of data is already useful.

06

Hand over properly

You receive the repository, hosting accounts, documentation, and a recorded walkthrough, so nothing stays locked to us.

“For the first time one team owned the app, the site, and the pipeline. We stopped refereeing vendors and started shipping.”
— COO, regional franchise group

Challenge

Twelve franchisee microsites, two unmaintained apps, inconsistent branding, and no shared lead pipeline.

Solution

One multi-location web platform, a rebuilt iOS and Android app on a shared API, and centralised performance marketing — launched in ten weeks.

A provincial professional association with roughly 9,000 licensed members

Duration

“Our January used to be triage. This year the phones were quiet, and for the first time the French experience is not a translation bolted on afterwards.”
— Registrar, provincial professional association

Challenge

Annual licence renewals ran through a decade-old portal that timed out under load every January, forcing staff to process hundreds of renewals by phone and email. Members could not update their own records, the public register was a nightly PDF export, and none of it met the association's accessibility obligations or its commitment to serve members in French.

Solution

We rebuilt the member portal as a web application with self-serve renewals, continuing-education logging, and a live public register searchable by name, licence number and status. The public website was rebuilt alongside it on the same design system, with every template written for WCAG 2.2 AA and content managed in English and French from a single screen. Payments run through the association's existing merchant account, and staff review renewals from a queue instead of an inbox. We demoed working screens every Friday from week two, so the registrar's team shaped the workflow while it was being built.

A powersports dealer group running fourteen rooftops across Alberta and Saskatchewan

Duration
5 months
“We can put a promotion on every store page before lunch, and the hours on the site are finally the hours on the door.”
— Marketing manager, multi-location powersports dealer group

Challenge

Every rooftop had its own website, built by whoever was available at the time, and no two agreed on hours, stock or contact forms. Customers searching for a store in their own town landed on pages that had not been touched in years, and head office could not push a promotion everywhere without fourteen separate requests. Nobody could even say which site licences were still current.

Solution

OlDevs built one platform on Next.js and a headless CMS, with a location content model that generates each rooftop page from structured records: hours, staff, service bays, inventory feed and reviews. Head office publishes once and every location inherits it, while managers edit only the fields they own. Old URLs were mapped store by store so years of search history carried over instead of being thrown away.

FAQ

Web Development — questions we hear first.

Most marketing sites launch in six to ten weeks, and e-commerce or multi-region builds in ten to fourteen, depending on content readiness and integrations. We confirm a dated plan in the Discover phase and report progress weekly.

You do. The code, design files, content, domain, hosting, and analytics accounts are registered in your name and handed over at launch, with no licence fees owed to OlDevs.

We choose the stack per project: Next.js or Astro for fast marketing sites, WordPress for editor-heavy content, Shopify or WooCommerce for e-commerce, and headless CMS options such as Sanity or Contentful where teams need structured content across channels.

Yes. Every build includes 30 days of post-launch tuning, and optional care plans cover updates, security patches, uptime monitoring, backups, and a monthly performance report.

Sites ship with HTTPS, hardened hosting, dependency scanning, and automated backups, and are audited against WCAG 2.2 AA before launch. For public-sector and association clients we document conformance and can align the build with PIPEDA and provincial privacy requirements.

You get a named project lead, a shared staging site, and a weekly review call, and your designers, writers, or developers can work alongside ours in the same repository and tools.

Cost depends on page count, platform, integrations, and content needs, so we scope each project individually rather than quoting a flat rate. Request a quote with a short brief and we will reply within one business day.
