Local keyword and intent research
We map how people search in each market: service terms, neighbourhood and suburb names, near-me phrasing, and the questions asked before a call. Findings are delivered as a spreadsheet you keep.

OlDevs is a technology and marketing studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, working since 2014, and Local SEO is one of its performance marketing disciplines.Local SEO is the work of making an organisation easier to find in the map pack and in location-specific searches: local keyword and intent research, location and service-area page architecture, LocalBusiness structured data, consistent name, address and phone details across directories, review generation and response, local links, and reporting on map-pack positions, calls and direction requests by location. We build one system that scales across many locations without duplicate content, which suits franchises, multi-site organisations and single-location businesses alike. You own every page, template, listing, account and dataset. We work across Canada and the United States, in English and French.
Key facts
15 · Local SEO
Six areas of work. On a single-location engagement you may need three of them. On a franchise rollout you will need all six, running together and on a schedule.
We map how people search in each market: service terms, neighbourhood and suburb names, near-me phrasing, and the questions asked before a call. Findings are delivered as a spreadsheet you keep.
Search demand · Intent mapping · Neighbourhood terms · Near-me queries · Local competitor review
A URL structure, template and internal linking model for location pages and service-area pages. Each page carries content specific to its market, so hundreds of pages do not read as one page repeated.
URL structure · Page templates · Internal links · Duplicate-content control · Service-area logic
Valid schema on every location page covering address, geo coordinates, opening hours, departments, service areas and reviews, generated from your location data rather than hand-typed per page.
LocalBusiness · PostalAddress · Geo coordinates · Opening hours · Validation · Automated output
An audit of how your name, address and phone number appear across directories and data aggregators, then correction and suppression of duplicates. You receive the full listing catalogue and its logins.
Directory audit · NAP cleanup · Duplicate suppression · Aggregator feeds · Listing catalogue
Review requests built into the customer touchpoints you already have, plus a response process with approved language, escalation rules and per-location reporting. No incentives, no gating, no reviews written on a customer's behalf.
Request flows · Response templates · Escalation rules · Per-location reporting · Platform rules
Links and mentions earned from organisations that actually operate in each market: associations, suppliers, sponsorships, chambers of commerce, local news and event listings. Every placement is logged.

Process
Audit and baseline
We record current map-pack and organic positions by location, crawl existing location pages, audit listings and review profiles, and write down the numbers before we touch anything.
Architecture and templates
We agree the URL structure and the location page template, decide what content varies by location and what is shared, and build the schema generation that feeds every page.
Build and clean up
Pages go live in batches. In parallel we correct listings, suppress duplicates and connect profiles, so the citation work lands as the new pages are indexed.
Reviews and local signals
The review request and response programme starts once pages are stable. Local link and community work follows, market by market, prioritised by the locations with the weakest local presence.
Report and iterate
Monthly reporting by location and a weekly demo during active build. We show what moved, what did not, and the next set of changes with reasons attached.
How we work
The same team handles research, page templates, engineering and reporting. No handoff between an SEO vendor and a development vendor who blame each other for a delay.
You see working pages and live numbers every week during an active build, not a slide deck at the end of a quarter. Direction changes are cheap when they happen early.
Code, templates, designs, listing logins, Google Business Profile access, analytics properties and every dataset are yours from day one and stay yours if we part ways.

Location pages are built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Store finders, maps and hours tables work with a keyboard and a screen reader, not only with a mouse.
Location pages, listings and review responses can be produced in English and French, with the hreflang and profile settings that keep each version pointed at the right audience.
Who it's for
Local search work pays off when there is a physical place or a defined service area involved. These are the situations we are usually brought into.
Organisations running ten to several hundred locations that need one template and one data source, rather than a folder of pages each written and maintained separately.
Head office needs brand consistency and central reporting. Franchisees need their own location found and their own reviews handled. The system has to serve both at once.
Trades, home services and mobile providers with no storefront to promote, who need service-area pages that are useful in their own right rather than a list of town names.
Clinics, practices, restaurants, retailers and community organisations competing for a small set of high-intent local searches in one market, where a handful of positions decides how often the phone rings.

FAQ
You do, from the first day. Google Business Profile locations are created under your organisation, directory listings use your details and logins, page templates and code live in your repository, and analytics properties are yours. We work as an added user on your accounts, never as the owner. If the engagement ends, nothing needs to be transferred back and nothing stops working, because none of it was ever held by us.
Against a baseline we record before any work starts. The measures are map-pack and local organic positions by location and keyword group, impressions and actions from your business profiles, calls, direction requests and form submissions attributed to local pages, and revenue where your systems can report it. Rankings alone are not the outcome. We report by location so you can see which markets moved and which did not.
Listing corrections and structured data fixes often show within a few weeks. New location pages usually need one to three months to settle into stable positions, and competitive urban markets take longer than that. Review volume builds gradually because we do not use incentives or gating. We control the work, not the ranking, so anyone promising map-pack positions on a fixed date is guessing.
The template is the same, the content is not. Each page draws on data that actually differs by location: staff, hours, services offered at that site, parking and transit, nearby landmarks, local reviews, and market-specific service descriptions. We define which fields must be unique before the build and validate them as pages are generated. Pages we cannot make meaningfully distinct do not get built.
Usually, yes. We have built location systems on WordPress, headless stacks and custom applications. The first question is whether your CMS can hold location data as structured fields rather than free text, because that is what drives templates and schema. If it cannot, we will say so and set out the options, including what working around it would involve.
We build review requests into touchpoints you already have, such as post-service messages and receipts, and ask every customer rather than filtering for happy ones. Review gating, incentives and reviews written on a customer's behalf breach the major platforms' guidelines, so we do none of them. On the response side you get approved language by scenario, an escalation route for serious complaints, and reporting on response time by location.
Every engagement is quoted after a scoping conversation. What drives the quote is the number of locations, the state of your current listings and pages, whether the CMS can hold structured location data, how many languages you need, and whether the review programme is part of the work. You get a written scope with deliverables listed before anything starts, and changes to it are agreed in writing.
