FAQ

General — working with OlDevs.

OlDevs — Online Developers — is a full-stack technology studio in Vancouver, BC. Since 2014 we have designed and shipped web apps, Android and iOS apps, websites, full-stack systems, AI products, and the performance marketing that grows them.

Corporations, associations, government and public bodies, franchises, and entrepreneurs — any organisation that needs technology to be modern, reliable, and genuinely useful.

Yes. Many clients start with a single build or a single marketing engagement. Because one team covers all seven services, adding the next is straightforward when you're ready.

With a short strategy call to map goals, audience, and scope. From there we design and build with a working demo every week, launch, and keep improving against your numbers.

Yes, fully. You own the source code, designs, accounts, and every asset we produce. No proprietary lock-in and nothing held back if you ever move on.

Yes. We deliver WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, bilingual (EN/FR) builds, security documentation, and the paperwork procurement teams expect.

It depends on scope. Tell us what you need and we will send a tailored quote within one business day — no obligation.

Start with the outcome. If you need a product, that's a web, mobile, or full-stack build; if you need growth, that's performance marketing. On the strategy call we'll map the right first step — many clients begin with one service and add others later.

Yes. Design, engineering, AI, and marketing sit on one Vancouver team with one point of contact — that's the whole point of OlDevs.

FAQ

Development.

Most OlDevs web applications take 8 to 24 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on the number of user roles, integrations, and screens. A focused MVP or internal tool can ship in 6 to 10 weeks, while a multi-tenant SaaS platform typically runs four to six months, and you see a working staging build every week either way.

You do. Every line of code, design file, and piece of data produced for your project is assigned to your organisation and lives in repositories and cloud accounts you control, so you are free to hand it to another team at any time.

A focused first release typically takes 10 to 16 weeks from discovery to Google Play submission, depending on the number of screens, integrations and device requirements. We confirm a milestone schedule during discovery, before development begins.

You do. On final payment, full ownership of the source code, designs and intellectual property transfers to your organisation, and the app is published under your own Google Play developer account.

A focused first release typically takes 10 to 16 weeks from kickoff to App Store submission, depending on the number of screens, integrations and platform features. We agree a release plan during discovery and ship a TestFlight build every week so progress is visible throughout.

You do. The source code, design files, App Store Connect account and backend infrastructure are all registered in your organisation's name, and full intellectual property transfers to you when the project is complete.

Most marketing sites launch in six to ten weeks, and e-commerce or multi-region builds in ten to fourteen, depending on content readiness and integrations. We confirm a dated plan in the Discover phase and report progress weekly.

You do. The code, design files, content, domain, hosting, and analytics accounts are registered in your name and handed over at launch, with no licence fees owed to OlDevs.

A focused platform with a defined scope typically takes 12 to 20 weeks from discovery to launch, with a working version you can use within the first month. Larger systems with several integrations are delivered in phases, and we agree the phase plan before work begins.

You do. All source code, infrastructure definitions, documentation and cloud accounts are created in your name or transferred to you, and OlDevs retains no licence over your product.

FAQ

Marketing.

Paid search and paid social typically produce measurable leads or sales within the first two to four weeks, once tracking is verified and the platforms' learning phase completes. SEO and AI-search visibility build more slowly, with meaningful movement usually visible in three to six months and compounding after that. We set channel-by-channel timelines during the strategy phase so expectations are written down before launch.

You do. Every ad account, analytics property, pixel, audience and email list is created under your organisation's ownership with OlDevs added as a managed user, and all creative, copy, landing pages and dashboards are yours to keep if we ever part ways.

For paid media we run Google Ads (Search, Shopping and Performance Max), Microsoft Advertising, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, and for measurement we use GA4, Google Tag Manager with server-side tagging, Looker Studio and each platform's conversions API. For email and lifecycle we work in Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp and most major CRMs, and we integrate with whatever stack your site or app already runs on.

Technical fixes and on-page improvements usually show movement in Google Search Console within four to eight weeks. Meaningful gains in rankings, organic traffic, and leads typically arrive in the 90-to-120-day range, and the compounding effect — where earlier content keeps earning traffic while new pages come online — becomes obvious from month six onward. Competitive sectors and sites with deep technical debt take longer, and we tell you that in the audit rather than after the fact. AI-search citations often move faster than classic rankings once schema and answer-first content are in place.

Most accounts go live within two to three weeks of kickoff. The first week covers the audit, keyword and product research, and conversion tracking; the second covers campaign build, feed setup in Merchant Center, and landing pages. Shopping campaigns can take a few extra days while Google reviews the feed. Meaningful optimisation data usually arrives after 30 days, and automated bidding strategies settle after roughly 90 days.

Retargeting campaigns usually produce measurable leads or sales within the first two weeks, because they reach people who already know you. Cold prospecting takes longer: each platform needs roughly a week of learning per ad set, and we typically run four to eight weeks of creative and audience testing before we know what to scale. Expect a clear read on the account by the end of month two, with gains compounding from there as the audiences and creative library mature.

A typical programme goes live in four to eight weeks. The first two weeks cover the audit, lifecycle map, and platform setup; the core flows (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and win-back) are written, built, and QA'd in weeks three to six; newsletters and further segments follow once the flows are running. If you already have a working platform and clean data, the first flows can be live within three weeks. Migrating between platforms adds two to four weeks depending on list size and integrations.

A tracking audit and measurement plan take two to three weeks. GA4 and server-side implementation typically ship within four to six weeks of the plan being approved, depending on how many platforms and properties we connect. Conversion-rate optimisation is continuous: most tests need two to six weeks of traffic to reach significance, and we run the programme on a rolling monthly cycle with a quarterly review of the roadmap.

A typical first sprint runs about three weeks: the creative audit and concept board in week one, production in week two, and a test-ready variant set exported to spec by the end of week three. Simple static refreshes can move faster; UGC shoots and multi-market video usually take longer because of scheduling and approvals. After the first round, most clients settle into a two-week cadence of new variants.

Paid Social, Paid Search and Shopping, Creative and Media, and Analytics and CRO go deep on one discipline each. This page is the joined-up program: organic social plus Meta, Google and LinkedIn advertising planned, produced, tracked and reported by one team, with a single budget conversation instead of several.

Paid advertising buys guaranteed placement and full control of the message. Public relations earns attention from journalists, editors, analysts and creators who decide on merit, which is slower but carries third party credibility. We run both in one plan so an earned placement lands while your search, social and email channels are ready to catch the interest.

FAQ

AI development.

A focused proof of concept typically takes four to eight weeks, and a production-ready system with pipelines, integration, and monitoring usually takes three to six months. We confirm the timeline during the Discover phase once we have seen your data and the systems it needs to connect to.

You do. Trained model weights, source code, prompts, pipelines, and the data they run on are assigned to your organisation on completion, and we never reuse your data to train work for anyone else.

We build custom models in Python with PyTorch and scikit-learn; generative systems on OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models as well as open-weight models such as Llama and Mistral; and deploy on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or your own servers. We choose the stack to fit your data, budget, and compliance needs rather than the other way round.

A working prototype on your data typically takes three to six weeks, depending on how ready the data is. Taking that prototype to a production deployment with pipelines, monitoring, and handover usually adds another six to twelve weeks. We agree milestones at the scoping stage and report progress against them every week.

A focused pilot, such as a support assistant grounded in one knowledge base, typically takes four to eight weeks from kickoff to a production release: one to two weeks of discovery and data preparation, two to four weeks of build and evaluation, and one to two weeks of integration and hardening. Larger programmes with fine-tuning, multiple data sources, or several integrations run twelve weeks or more. We agree the scope and dates before work starts and report progress weekly.

A focused classifier or entity extractor on a well-defined corpus typically moves from corpus audit to a production API in six to ten weeks. Semantic search over a large document set, or multilingual pipelines with human review, usually run ten to sixteen weeks. The timeline depends mostly on how much labelled data already exists and how many source systems we integrate with, and we confirm a schedule at the end of the corpus audit.

A proof of concept on your own images usually takes three to six weeks: enough to train a first model, measure it on a held-out set, and show whether the accuracy target is reachable. A production system — integrated with your cameras or scanners, deployed, and monitored — typically lands in three to five months, depending on how much data needs collecting and labelling. We agree milestones at the start and report against them every week.

A first workflow typically moves from mapping to production in four to six weeks. Simple integrations with clean APIs can go live sooner, while workflows that need RPA on legacy screens or several approval paths take longer. We agree a schedule after the mapping step, once we know exactly how many systems and hand-offs are involved.

A first forecasting or scoring model typically reaches production in six to ten weeks, depending on how ready your data is. Discovery takes one to two weeks, data preparation two to three, modelling and validation two to three, and integration one to two. Recommendation engines and multi-site dashboards can run longer because they touch more systems. You receive a dated plan after discovery and we report against it every week.
