Auckland, in short

Yes. OlDevs takes on Auckland projects, run remotely from our Vancouver studio with travel to New Zealand when a workshop or launch justifies it.Auckland is 19 hours ahead of Vancouver, so your morning is our afternoon on the previous day, and live calls go inside that window while the rest of the work moves in writing. We cover web apps, Android and iOS apps, web and full-stack development, AI development and performance marketing.

Built for Auckland Region

What Auckland projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

The Privacy Act 2020 in the build

New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, enforced by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, shapes how we design forms, analytics and storage. We collect what a feature needs and nothing extra, agree retention with you up front, and document every place customer information lands.

Privacy Act 2020 · Privacy Commissioner · Data minimisation

02

Accessibility for public and private sector

Public sector work follows the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the working standard we apply for every client. That means keyboard reachable interfaces, visible focus, honest contrast, and content that still reads sensibly through a screen reader.

WCAG 2.2 AA · NZ Government standard · Screen readers

03

English and te reo Maori

English is the working language and te reo Maori is an official language of New Zealand, so we build interfaces that carry macrons, bilingual labels and correctly rendered names from the first line of code rather than retrofitting support once the content arrives.

te reo Maori · Macron support · Bilingual interfaces

04

Hosting close to your users

Hosting is a decision, not a default. We can deploy into New Zealand or Australian cloud regions to keep data near your users and aligned with how you handle the Privacy Act 2020, and we create every account, domain and repository in your organisation's name.

Sectors

Who we work with in Auckland.

Technology and software

Auckland software companies usually want extra hands on a specific problem: a new product surface, a stubborn integration, a rebuild of something that grew badly. We work as one accountable team inside your process and leave documented code behind.

Financial services

Finance and insurance teams need careful data handling, auditable changes and interfaces customers trust. We build full-stack systems with role based access and readable logs, and design the customer facing parts to WCAG 2.2 AA.

Logistics and port

Freight, port and logistics operators run on timing and visibility. We build tracking portals, driver and yard apps, and internal dashboards that pull scattered systems into one view, with offline handling where the work happens outdoors.

Screen production

Screen and production companies need showcase sites that load fast, protect unreleased material and handle heavy media. We build the front end, the asset workflow behind it, and the analytics that shows which work is drawing attention.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Auckland.

  1. Discover

We meet over video during your morning, take the current process apart, and return a written brief with scope, risks, hosting options and the outcomes we will measure. Nothing starts before you agree with it.

  2. Design

Flows and screens go to you as commentable files. You review them during your day and we act on the notes during ours, so the design moves forward once every 24 hours without anyone sitting up late.

  3. Build

One team, weekly demos, real software you can use rather than screenshots. Bugs and changes live on a shared board that you can reorder at any time, in your own hours, without waiting for us.

  4. Launch

The release is staged first, checked for accessibility, speed and security, and the data is moved before anyone sees it. We switch over at a quiet time for Auckland users and watch the first hours of live traffic with you.

  5. Grow

After go live we look at what people actually do, tighten the weak steps, and run search, paid media and email as one connected effort. The roadmap stays yours, and so does everything we have built.

FAQ

Auckland — questions we hear first.

No. The studio is in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Auckland clients are served remotely with meetings booked in New Zealand hours. We travel across when a discovery workshop, a launch or a research session is clearly better in person. We would rather say that than list a serviced address and call it a branch.

Auckland is 19 hours ahead of Vancouver, so your morning is our previous afternoon. We book live calls in that window, usually once or twice a week, and run everything else asynchronously: recorded demo walkthroughs, written decisions and a shared board. Work handed over at the end of your day is generally waiting when you return.

Yes. We can deploy into New Zealand cloud regions, or Australian ones if that serves your users better, or elsewhere again if you have another preference. The choice is settled before development starts, built in accounts registered to your organisation, and documented so your own advisers can check it against the Privacy Act 2020.

Yes. We build with proper text encoding and macron support, structure content so labels and pages can exist in more than one language, and mark language correctly so screen readers pronounce names as they should. The translation itself is done by people who speak the language, not by us.

Web app development and full-stack development lead, usually alongside iOS and Android work and performance marketing. AI development arrives as generative AI and LLMs, natural language, computer vision, AI automation and agents, custom machine learning or predictive analytics, depending on the problem in front of us.

Every enquiry gets a reply within one business day. From there we set a short video call inside the Auckland morning window, ask about scope, users and deadlines, and follow it with a written quote. Request a quote whenever you are ready; we do not publish prices because scope decides them.
