Perth, in short

Yes. OlDevs works with Perth organisations remotely from the studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, and travels to Western Australia when a site visit or workshop earns the trip.Perth is 15 hours ahead of Vancouver, so your working morning meets our late afternoon and early evening the day before, which is where live calls go. We provide web apps, Android and iOS apps, web and full-stack development, AI development and performance marketing.

Built for Western Australia

What Perth projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

Privacy Act 1988 obligations by design

Contractor records, safety data and customer details all fall under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, enforced by the OAIC. We agree what gets collected and how long it is kept before we build, then leave you a written record of every store and integration.

Privacy Act 1988 · OAIC · Retention rules

02

WCAG 2.2 AA as the working standard

Disability Discrimination Act 1992 obligations apply to Perth organisations and government services follow WCAG 2.1 AA. We work to WCAG 2.2 AA, which means visible focus, keyboard reachable controls, sufficient contrast, and forms that explain themselves to a screen reader.

WCAG 2.2 AA · DDA 1992 · Keyboard access

03

Clear technical English

The audience reads English, so effort goes into precise technical language instead of translation: exact field names, plain error text, and documentation an engineer or a site supervisor can act on without a phone call. Bilingual English and French is available when a project calls for it.

Plain English · Technical clarity · Bilingual EN/FR

04

Hosting, residency and distance

Perth sits a long way from most data centres, so the hosting choice shows up as page speed. We can deploy to Australian cloud regions to keep records in country, put static assets on an edge network, and register every account and domain in your name.

Sectors

Who we work with in Perth.

Mining and resources

Resource companies drown in reporting: shifts, permits, maintenance, environmental data. We build web and mobile tools that capture it once, keep working without a signal, and produce the reports your people currently rebuild by hand every month.

Energy

Energy businesses need dashboards that can be read under pressure and portals customers can use without phoning anyone. We design for clarity first, build to WCAG 2.2 AA, and connect to the operational systems already running.

Engineering services

Engineering firms sell expertise and need software that shows it: project portals, document control, calculation tools and proposal systems. We build them full stack and document the code so your own developers can pick it up later.

Marine and defence

Marine and defence suppliers work with strict record keeping and long procurement cycles. We keep data handling documented, hosting decisions explicit and access controls role based, then hand over the whole environment inside your accounts.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Perth.

  1. Discover

We start with video sessions in your morning, walk through the workflows you run now, and leave a written brief covering scope, technical risks, hosting choices and how we will know it worked.

  2. Design

Screens and flows arrive early and often. We test the awkward parts first, offline states, permissions and reporting, and check accessibility while the design is still cheap to change.

  3. Build

Working software every week from one accountable team, with no handover to strangers. You open the demo during your Perth day and send notes that we pick up as our afternoon starts.

  4. Launch

We rehearse the release, run accessibility and performance checks, pick a low traffic hour in Western Australia for the cutover, and stay online through your morning to watch it settle.

  5. Grow

Once it is live we measure the parts that matter, adjust the marketing behind them, and agree the next block of work with you. Every account, repository and design file stays yours throughout.

FAQ

Perth — questions we hear first.

No. OlDevs is a Vancouver studio and Perth clients are served remotely, with calls scheduled inside your business hours rather than ours. When a project needs us in Western Australia for a site walk, a discovery workshop or a launch, we travel. We would rather be straight about that than claim a presence we do not have.

Perth runs 15 hours ahead of Vancouver, so your morning is our late afternoon and early evening the day before. That is a genuine live window and we book calls inside it. Between calls the work moves through written updates, recorded demos and a shared board, and we answer every enquiry within one business day.

We can host in Australian cloud regions if you want records to stay in country, which also shortens the trip for Perth users, or in another region if the business prefers that. The decision is made with you before the build, set up in accounts you own, and written down for your advisers to review.

Yes. For mining, energy and engineering work we assume the network will drop out. The app writes to local storage first, queues whatever is pending, and reconciles once coverage returns, with any clash surfaced to a named person instead of being settled silently. We test on the handsets and tablets your teams already carry.

Useful things, once it is pointed at a real problem: pulling figures out of scanned reports, classifying maintenance notes, forecasting demand, or answering staff questions from your own documents. We scope that as custom machine learning, natural language, computer vision, AI automation and agents, or predictive analytics.

Request a quote. We do not publish rates, because the number depends on scope, integrations and how much of the existing system stays in place. Tell us the problem and the deadline, and you will hear back within one business day with questions, then a written quote once the scope is settled.
