Built for British Columbia

What Victoria projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

Privacy law for BC organisations

Private-sector organisations in Victoria fall under BC's Personal Information Protection Act, and federally regulated ones under PIPEDA. We confirm which framework governs you, or the rules a public body is bound by, and settle consent, retention and data location before the build.

02

Accessibility plans and WCAG 2.2 AA

With the provincial government headquartered in Victoria, the Accessible British Columbia Act's requirement for public-sector accessibility plans is close to home. We build every interface to WCAG 2.2 AA and supply the testing evidence your accessibility plan or procurement file needs.

03

English first, French when required

Victoria's business language is English, and most projects ship in English alone. Where a public body, federal partner or defence contract needs French, our in-house bilingual English and French capability covers interface copy, content and support without a separate vendor.

04

Canadian hosting for public and defence work

Government, defence and marine clients in Victoria rarely accept data stored outside Canada. We host in Canadian cloud regions such as Montréal, Toronto and Calgary, keep backups domestic and provide the residency documentation procurement teams expect.

Sectors

Who we work with in Victoria.

Provincial government and public sector

Ministries, Crown corporations and agencies need accessible, bilingual-ready web applications, secure forms and clear service journeys that survive procurement scrutiny. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, document everything and host in Canada.

Technology

Victoria software companies ask for product engineering capacity, mobile companions, AI features and the analytics to show traction. We join as one accountable team with a working demo every week, and the code stays yours.

Tourism and hospitality

Hotels, tour operators and attractions need booking engines, seasonal campaigns and mobile experiences that work for visitors on the move. We build the platform and run paid search, paid social and email to fill the calendar.

Marine and defence

Shipyards, marine services and defence suppliers need secure portals, maintenance and asset tracking, and data handling that satisfies strict contract terms. We design with access control, audit trails and Canadian hosting built in.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Victoria.

  1. Discover

A video kickoff scheduled in your working day, or a visit to Victoria when meeting the team and seeing the operation matters. We capture users, systems, privacy obligations and success measures.

  2. Design

Wireframes and clickable prototypes reviewed weekly, with accessibility, French-language needs and procurement requirements settled before the build starts.

  3. Build

Short build cycles with a working demo every week and a staging environment you can open at any hour. When a workshop needs a room, we take the ferry over and run it in person.

  4. Launch

Accessibility, performance and security checks, data migration, deployment to Canadian hosting, then handover of documentation, credentials and repositories. All code, designs, accounts and IP are yours.

  5. Grow

After launch we keep improving: analytics and CRO reviews, seasonal campaigns, SEO, new features and AI automation, in a rhythm that suits your Victoria team.

FAQ

Victoria — questions we hear first.

No. Our studio is in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we do not claim a Victoria office or local staff. Victoria is a ferry ride or short flight away, so we come over for kickoffs, workshops and launches when being in the room helps, and run the rest of the engagement by video, staging environments and weekly demos.

Yes. Victoria and our studio are both on Pacific Time, so your working hours and ours are identical. Demos, reviews and support all happen during your business day, which also suits government teams that keep fixed office hours.

We build to BC's Personal Information Protection Act for provincially regulated organisations and PIPEDA for federally regulated ones, and if you are a public body we design to the rules that govern you. That covers consent, retention, access requests and where data is stored. Your privacy officer or counsel remains the authority on interpretation.

Yes. Canadian cloud regions on the major providers are our default, with backups, logs and monitoring kept in-country, and we can supply the residency and security documentation that public-sector and defence procurement usually requires. Air-gapped or on-premises components can be designed in where a contract demands it.

Accessible web application development for public-sector services leads, followed by full-stack builds for technology companies. Tourism operators most often ask for booking platforms paired with performance marketing, and AI development for document processing and search is a growing request across sectors.
