Built for British Columbia

What Vancouver projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

BC PIPA and PIPEDA, applied correctly

Most Vancouver businesses fall under BC's Personal Information Protection Act, while federally regulated ones such as banks and airlines answer to PIPEDA. We confirm which applies to you, then design consent, retention and access-request flows to match before we write the first line of code.

02

Accessible British Columbia Act and WCAG 2.2 AA

The Accessible British Columbia Act asks public-sector bodies to publish accessibility plans, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard everyone is measured against. We build to 2.2 AA from the first component: keyboard paths, contrast, focus order and screen-reader checks on real devices.

03

Multilingual Vancouver audiences

English carries most Vancouver business, but Cantonese, Mandarin and Punjabi are spoken at home across the region. We build proper multilingual structure so translated content, hreflang tags and the right fonts work correctly, and we offer bilingual English and French capability in-house.

Hosting and data residency in Canada

Vancouver organisations usually want customer data kept inside Canada. We deploy to Canadian cloud regions such as Montréal, Toronto and Calgary, keep backups in-country, and document where every dataset lives so you can answer a vendor security questionnaire without a scramble.

Sectors

Who we work with in Vancouver.

Technology and SaaS

Vancouver software companies need engineering that keeps pace with the roadmap: multi-tenant web apps, mobile companions, AI features and analytics that prove adoption. We slot in as one accountable team with a working demo every week.

Film and visual effects

Studios and post houses run on tight delivery windows and heavy media. We build review portals, asset pipelines and crew scheduling tools that handle large files gracefully, plus computer vision and automation where it saves artists hours.

Port logistics and trade

Freight forwarders, customs brokers and terminal operators need tracking dashboards, EDI integrations and mobile tools for the yard. We design systems that stay accurate under high transaction volume and surface delays before customers ask.

Real estate and construction

Developers, brokerages and builders ask for listing platforms, project management portals and lead generation that actually converts. We combine web development with paid search, SEO and CRO so marketing spend turns into qualified enquiries.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Vancouver.

  1. Discover

A kickoff at our Vancouver studio or by video, whichever suits your team. We map users, systems, privacy obligations and success measures, then write a plan you can hold us to.

  2. Design

Wireframes and clickable prototypes reviewed with you each week. Accessibility, multilingual needs and brand are settled here so the build does not have to undo anything later.

  3. Build

One accountable team builds in short cycles with a working demo every week and a staging environment you can open at any time. In-person working sessions are easy when a whiteboard beats a screen.

  4. Launch

We run accessibility, performance and security checks, migrate data, deploy to Canadian hosting and hand over documentation, credentials and repositories. You own all code, designs, accounts and IP.

  5. Grow

After launch we keep improving: analytics reviews, CRO experiments, SEO and paid campaigns, new features and AI automation, in whatever rhythm suits your Vancouver team.

FAQ

Vancouver — questions we hear first.

Yes. OlDevs has been based in Vancouver, British Columbia since 2014, and every project is run from this studio. Vancouver clients can meet us in person for kickoffs, design reviews and working sessions, and the rest of the engagement runs over video, shared staging environments and weekly demos so nobody has to cross town for a status update.

We already do. The studio runs on Pacific Time, so your working day and ours line up completely. Demos, reviews and urgent fixes happen during your business hours, and there is no waiting overnight for a reply from another part of the world.

Yes. We design to BC's Personal Information Protection Act for provincially regulated organisations and to PIPEDA for federally regulated ones such as banks and telecoms. That shapes how we handle consent, data retention, access requests and where data is stored. We are not a law firm, so we work alongside your counsel when a policy question needs a formal answer.

Yes. We deploy to Canadian cloud regions on the major providers, with backups and logs kept in-country, and we document the location of each dataset so you can show customers and auditors exactly where their information sits. If part of your stack must stay on-premises, we design around that too.

Web app development and full-stack builds lead, often paired with an iOS or Android app for field staff or customers. AI development is growing quickly, especially generative AI features and automation inside existing tools. Performance marketing, particularly SEO and paid search, is the usual next step once a product is live.

Send a short description of what you want to build or fix through the Request a quote form. We reply within one business day, arrange a discovery call or a visit to the studio, and follow up with a written plan covering scope, approach, timeline and the team who will do the work.
