Built for North Carolina

What Raleigh projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

Privacy built around federal sector rules

North Carolina has no comprehensive consumer-privacy statute as of our last review, so the rules that bind a Raleigh product depend on what it handles: HIPAA for health, COPPA for children, GLBA for finance, CAN-SPAM and the FTC Act for marketing. We map which apply before designing the data model.

HIPAA · COPPA · FTC Act

02

ADA and the Title II deadline

Public-facing sites in North Carolina carry ADA Title III litigation risk, and the 2024 Title II rule requires state and local government web content to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, with the first deadline already passed in April 2026. We build every interface to WCAG 2.2 AA and hand over an audit record.

ADA Title II · WCAG 2.2 AA · Section 508

03

Plain English, ready for more languages

Raleigh clients work in English, so we write interface copy in plain English and structure content so a second language can be added later without a rebuild. Our bilingual EN/FR capability is available if you serve Canadian markets from the Triangle.

Plain language · Localisation-ready

04

US hosting and data residency

For Raleigh organisations we deploy to US cloud regions on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, often the US East regions in Virginia and Ohio for low latency to the Triangle, and document where every backup, log and third-party service stores data.

Sectors

Who we work with in Raleigh.

Technology and software

Research Triangle software companies need customer portals, internal tools, developer-facing APIs and AI features shipped without slowing the core product team. We plug in as one accountable team, demo weekly and hand over documented code.

Life sciences and pharma

Lab groups and pharma teams ask for secure data-capture apps, HIPAA-aware patient and trial portals, and ML models that make sense of instrument output. We design the data model around the regulation first, then build.

State government

Agencies serving North Carolina residents need WCAG-conformant sites, plain-language forms and reliable back-office web apps. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, beyond the Title II requirement, and document accessibility as we go.

Clean energy

Solar, storage and grid-services companies need monitoring dashboards, field apps for installers and predictive models for demand and maintenance. We pair full-stack development with predictive analytics so the data is useful, not just stored.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Raleigh.

  1. Discover

A video kickoff scheduled in Eastern Time hours, where we map your users, integrations, sector rules and success measures, and agree scope before design starts.

  2. Design

Wireframes, then clickable prototypes reviewed on calls in your afternoon. Accessibility, content structure and privacy decisions are settled here, not patched in later.

  3. Build

Short sprints with a working demo every week and a staging environment you can open at any hour. Nothing waits for a monthly review to be seen.

  4. Launch

Accessibility, performance and security checks, then a deployment to your US cloud account. A visit to Raleigh when training or a launch day benefits from us being in the room.

  5. Grow

Post-launch support, analytics and conversion work, and a roadmap for new features. You own every account and repository, so growth never depends on us.

FAQ

Raleigh — questions we hear first.

No. OlDevs works from a single studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. Raleigh clients are served remotely with video calls in Eastern Time hours, weekly demos and shared staging environments, and we travel to the Triangle for kickoffs, workshops or launches when being on site clearly helps.

Yes. Raleigh is three hours ahead of our studio, so your 12:00 to 17:30 is our 9:00 to 14:30. We book kickoffs, reviews and demos inside that window, and asynchronous updates cover your morning. Most clients find a daily overlap of five and a half hours more than enough.

We work from the facts: as of our last review North Carolina has no comprehensive consumer-privacy statute, so federal sector rules govern, including HIPAA, COPPA, GLBA, CAN-SPAM and the FTC Act. We identify which apply to your product during discovery and design consent, retention and access controls to match.

Yes. We deploy to US regions on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, in an account you own, and record where backups, logs and any third-party services keep data. If a contract or regulator requires a specific region, we set that as a hard constraint from the start.

Web app development for software and life-sciences teams, custom ML and AI automation on research and operational data, and WCAG-conformant public sites for government and education. Performance marketing, especially SEO and paid search, is a frequent add-on once a product is live.
