Nanaimo, in short

Yes, OlDevs works with Nanaimo businesses and public organisations from our Vancouver studio, delivering remotely by video and travelling across when a workshop or a launch calls for it.Nanaimo keeps the same Pacific Time clock as Vancouver, so your morning is our morning and nothing has to be scheduled around a gap. The work covers web app development, Android and iOS apps, web development, full-stack engineering, AI development and performance marketing.

Built for British Columbia

What Nanaimo projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

Personal information under BC PIPA

Provincially regulated Nanaimo organisations fall under the BC Personal Information Protection Act, while federally regulated ones answer to PIPEDA. We map every form, log and integration to a stated purpose, keep collection to what a feature actually needs, and write it down so your counsel can review it.

Privacy · PIPA · Data handling

02

Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA

The Accessible British Columbia Act asks public-sector bodies to publish accessibility plans, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard we build to. Keyboard paths, colour contrast, focus states and screen reader labels are checked during the build, not after launch.

03

Plain English content that reads well

Nanaimo audiences work in English, so the win is clarity rather than translation. We write short headings, sentence case labels and error messages that say what to do next, and we keep the reading level friendly for residents, patients and visitors alike.

04

Canadian hosting and data residency

When your board or your funder wants records kept in Canada, we deploy to Canadian regions and hold backups, logs and file storage in the same country. If a service has to sit elsewhere, we name it up front and write down what data it would touch.

Sectors

Who we work with in Nanaimo.

Health care

Clinics and health organisations need booking, intake and referral flows that hold up under pressure. We build them with careful consent wording, audit trails and accessible forms, so staff and patients both get through a task without guesswork.

Marine and ferry services

Operators run on schedules, sailings and vessel status. We build web and mobile tools that show live timetables, handle bookings and keep working on a weak signal at the terminal, with an admin side non technical staff can update.

Tourism

Visitors research on a phone, often mid trip. We build fast, image-led sites and apps with clear availability, maps and booking, plus performance marketing and analytics so you can see which campaigns fill the season.

Retirement services

Residences and senior focused services are read by families as much as by residents. We design large, legible type, simple navigation and forms that can be finished in one sitting, then support them with search and email lifecycle work.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Nanaimo.

  1. Discover

We start with video calls in Pacific Time, review your current site, data and systems, and agree on the problem worth solving before anyone opens a design file.

  2. Design

You see wireframes and interface work in a shared workspace, comment where you like, and we run a live walkthrough each week so decisions are made with your whole Nanaimo team present.

  3. Build

One accountable team builds in short cycles with a working demo every week. You click the real thing on your own screen rather than reading a status report written to reassure you.

  4. Launch

We rehearse the release, check accessibility and analytics, then go live at a quiet hour for your audience. We travel to Nanaimo when a launch or a training day is better in person.

  5. Grow

After launch we watch real behaviour, tune performance and content, run search and paid campaigns where they earn their place, and plan the next release together with you.

FAQ

Nanaimo — questions we hear first.

No. Our studio is in Vancouver and has been since 2014. Nanaimo work is delivered remotely, with video calls in your time zone, a shared workspace you can check any day, and travel across for kickoffs, workshops or training when being in the room is genuinely better.

Yes. Nanaimo and Vancouver share Pacific Time, so there is no time maths at all. Stand-ups, design reviews and release windows all sit inside your normal working day, and every enquiry gets a reply within one business day whether it arrives by email or by phone.

We can host in Canadian regions and keep databases, backups, file storage and logs in the country. If a third party service you want sits outside Canada, we tell you before it is added and record exactly what information it would see, so your privacy review has something concrete to read.

All seven: web app development, Android app development, iOS app development, web development, full-stack development, AI development and performance marketing. Marketing covers SEO and content, paid search and shopping, paid social, email and lifecycle, analytics and CRO, and creative and media.

Yes. Every project is built to WCAG 2.2 AA, public-sector work included. Public bodies publish accessibility plans under the Accessible British Columbia Act, and tested software gives you something concrete to describe in one. We check keyboard navigation, contrast and screen reader output during the build, then hand over notes your accessibility committee can use.

You do. Clients own all code, designs, accounts and intellectual property, and everything is transferred to your own repositories, hosting and analytics before we finish. There is no lock-in, and any Nanaimo developer you hire later can pick the project up without asking us for permission.
