Built for Ohio

What Cleveland projects need us to get right.

The local rules and realities we design for from the first call.

01

HIPAA first, then the rest

With health care and biomedical research so central to Cleveland, HIPAA shapes most of the products we build here: minimum-necessary data, encryption, audit trails and signed agreements with every vendor that touches patient data. GLBA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM and the FTC Act cover the remaining sectors.

HIPAA · FTC Act · Audit trails

02

Accessibility that holds up under the ADA

Public-facing websites in Ohio face ADA Title III litigation risk, and any state or local government client must meet WCAG 2.1 AA under the 2024 Title II rule. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as standard, test with screen readers and keyboard only, and hand you a conformance report you can show a regulator.

ADA · WCAG 2.2 AA

03

Clear English for patients and operators

Cleveland projects run in English, and the readers are often patients, plant operators or clinicians in a hurry. We write and structure content for fast comprehension: short labels, consistent terms, readable contrast and headings a screen reader can follow. EN/FR delivery is there if you need it.

English · Plain language · Readability

04

US data residency by default

Cleveland clients, especially those handling health data, expect their systems and backups to stay on US soil. We provision US-East regions on the major clouds, restrict access by role, and keep infrastructure in accounts you own so a future audit can trace every change.

Sectors

Who we work with in Cleveland.

Health care

Hospitals, clinics and the practices around them need patient portals, scheduling and intake apps, clinician dashboards and AI that summarises notes or triages messages. We design for HIPAA from the first sketch and integrate with existing records systems.

Manufacturing

Cleveland manufacturers ask for quoting and order portals, shop-floor mobile apps, computer-vision inspection and predictive maintenance models. We connect to the PLCs, ERPs and spreadsheets already running the plant instead of asking anyone to replace them.

Financial services

Banks, wealth managers and fintech teams want secure customer portals, onboarding flows, fraud and risk models and analytics finance can trust. We build with GLBA-style controls, full audit logs and explainable AI a compliance officer can follow.

Biomedical research

Research institutes and spin-outs need data-capture tools, participant apps, lab dashboards and machine-learning pipelines that handle sensitive data carefully. We write reproducible code, document every model and design around de-identification and consent.

Process

Working with OlDevs from Cleveland.

  1. Discover

We start with a video kickoff scheduled in Cleveland's afternoon. Over one to two weeks we map users, data sources, HIPAA or other obligations and success criteria, then put the scope in writing.

  2. Design

Prototypes arrive weekly for you to click through and critique. Accessibility, security architecture and content are decided here with your clinicians, engineers or compliance staff in the room virtually.

  3. Build

Every week you get a working demo and a staging link you can share internally. Code is committed to your repository, tests run on every change, and you can watch the product take shape.

  4. Launch

For launches that involve training staff on site or connecting to on-premises equipment, we come to Cleveland. Handover includes code, accounts, documentation and a recorded walkthrough for your team.

  5. Grow

Post-launch we offer maintenance, monitoring, analytics and marketing support on a schedule that suits you. You own all code and IP, so you can bring work in-house whenever it makes sense.

FAQ

Cleveland — questions we hear first.

We do not. Our studio is in Vancouver, and Cleveland work is delivered remotely with video calls in Eastern Time. When something is easier in person, such as an on-site kickoff at a hospital or a plant walkthrough, a team member travels to Cleveland. We are upfront about this so nobody is surprised later.

Cleveland is three hours ahead of Vancouver, and we plan around that. Your 12:00 to 5:30 pm overlaps with our 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, which is where standing meetings and demos go. Questions sent in your morning are answered by the time you return from lunch, and urgent production issues are handled outside those hours.

As of our last review Ohio has no comprehensive consumer-privacy statute, so the applicable rules are federal and sector-specific: HIPAA for patient data, GLBA for finance, COPPA for children, CAN-SPAM for email and the FTC Act generally. We identify which apply during discovery and build consent, retention and access controls to match, working with your counsel on the legal side.

Yes. Cleveland clients are hosted in US regions on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, with backups in a second US region and no replication outside the country. The accounts are set up under your organisation, and we document region choices so your compliance team has the record.

Health care portals and clinician tools come up most, followed by web apps and mobile apps for manufacturers and AI models for research groups. On the marketing side, professional services firms ask for SEO, content and lifecycle email. Most engagements combine two or three of these disciplines.

Send a quote request with a few lines about your organisation, the problem and any deadline. Within one business day you will hear back from the person who would lead the project, and we will set a video call in your hours. From there we produce a written scope and quote for you to consider.
