How a manufacturing build runs

  1. Walk the floor

    We start where the work happens: the lines, the checks, the paperwork and the systems people already work around. Operators, quality and planning all get a say, because they are the ones who will keep the software honest.

  2. Scope and architecture

    We agree what gets built first, how it connects to the ERP, MES and any historian, where the data lives, who can see what, and what a successful pilot looks like. You get the plan in writing before we build.

  3. Weekly working demo

    Every week you see software running, not a status report. Supervisors and operators try it, tell us what is wrong, and the next week reflects that. Nothing is saved up for a reveal at the end.

  4. Pilot on one line

    We prove the build on a single line, cell or product family, run it beside the current process, and compare against your own records. Only when it holds up do we widen the scope.

  5. Rollout and handover

    Rollout across lines or plants with training for operators and maintenance, documentation, monitoring and alerting. You own the code, designs, accounts and IP, and we stay on for support if you want it.

Camera based checks for presence, orientation, surface defects, fill level and label accuracy, with uncertain parts routed to a person. Every decision is logged with the image, so quality has evidence rather than a tally.

Manufacturing — questions we hear first.

We work with what you have. Most manufacturers already own an ERP that suits the finance and planning side, and the gap sits at the floor and the customer edge. We build on top through the supported API, database views or a middleware layer, and we agree the integration approach with your IT lead before any code is written.

It is better to treat it as a second set of eyes that never gets tired. Vision handles repeatable checks such as presence, absence, orientation, surface defects and label accuracy, and flags anything uncertain for a person. We start with a pilot on one defect class, measure it against your own inspection records, and expand only when it holds up.

History and access. We need sensor or historian data, maintenance logs, enough failure examples for a model to learn from, and somebody who knows the assets well enough to say when the data is misleading. If the history is thin we start with condition monitoring and alerting, then move to prediction once the record builds.

No. The studio is in Vancouver and we work with manufacturers elsewhere remotely, with video calls scheduled in your time zone and on-site visits when the work calls for it. Commissioning, line walkthroughs and operator training are the usual reasons to be in the building, and we plan those into the schedule from the start.

That is the design problem, not an afterthought. Floor screens get large touch targets, gloved input, high contrast for glare and shift lighting, and a layout an operator can read from a metre away. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, test with the people who will use it during the weekly demo, and change what they tell us is wrong.

We build the traceability and record keeping your own quality system requires, including lot and batch genealogy, electronic records, audit trails and role based sign off. Your quality and regulatory team defines what the applicable rules require and we build the software to match. We are not a certifying body and we do not give legal or regulatory advice.
